WS2811 Led Strip vs WS2812B Led Strip & 12v vs 5v
Technically the WS2811 is an IC which can be purchased on the market all by itself, no LEDS. When the 5050 LEDs were added it turns to be WS2812B Led. WS2812B indicated the IC + LEDs all in one package.
If you look at the "WS2811 - 12VDC" flex strip you will see the actual chip plus three 5050 LEDs plus some popcorn "R"s.
Some of these operate at 400KHz and some at 800KHZ (WS2812B) protocol, however most controllers handle both speeds.
Bottom line, they are really the same except for nuances.
2812 vs 2812: 2812 is chip plus led built into a single device. 2812 strips are always 1 pixel per 1 led. most 2811 strips (but not all) are 3 leds per pixel. this means a 5m string with 30 leds/meter is 10 pixels / meter with 3 leds tied to a pixel.
12v vs 5v - all 2811/2812 pixels run at about 5v. a 12v string has either resistors or buck converters or multiple leds in series (see 3 leds sets above) to work at 12v. yes a strip using buck converters can be longer because the power injection is essentually built into the strip, there is a limit to the current that the 12v lines on the strip can handle which means that you should still inject new power every strip or two.
